Critical Infrastructure Monitoring

Critical Infrastructure Monitoring

Critical infrastructure helps society function and is so vital that its disruption or destruction could have a debilitating impact on public health, safety, security, economic stability, and the overall functioning of a nation. Monitoring of critical infrastructure is therefore essential in protecting key assets, fundamental systems and networks within various sectors, including energy, water, transportation, communications, healthcare and emergency services.

At RMS, our critical infrastructure monitoring service provides a reliable and innovative monitoring solution for key sectors whose services and systems contribute to vital societal infrastructures. We use real-time observation and advanced technology to analyse a site’s essential systems, such as energy grids, water treatment plants, and transportation networks, from our remote monitoring centre.

We leverage advanced technologies such as sensors, IoT devices, and data analytics, so we can continuously assess a site’s performance, detect anomalies, and promptly respond to potential issues. By providing around-the-clock surveillance, our remote monitoring service enhances early detection of faults or security threats, enabling proactive measures to prevent future disruptions. Our proactive approach not only minimises downtime but also contributes to the overall efficiency and longevity of critical infrastructure components.

How Does Critical Infrastructure Monitoring Work?

At RMS, we provide a bespoke solution tailored to the needs of the client and their type of critical infrastructure. If a sensor or agreed trigger is activated, the following steps will take place.

  • A signal will be sent to the RMS central monitoring centre, notifying the monitoring operatives of the event trigger.
  • If the signal is received within the site’s normal working hours, one of our Monitoring Centre team will make contact with the site to check if the activation is a false alarm or not.
  • If it is not a false alarm, the operative will investigate the issue. If it is a system fault, they will fix it remotely, if possible. If it is a security breach or other event, they will contact the necessary rapid response.
  • If the signal is received outside of a site’s working hours, our Monitoring Centre team will immediately initiate the agreed emergency response.

How Much Does Critical Infrastructure Monitoring Cost?

The cost of an ongoing critical infrastructure monitoring contract is dependent on various factors and will vary from site to site. Influencing factors that can impact the cost include the number of sites that require monitoring, their size and surface area, as well as the size, scale and complexity of their critical infrastructure systems. The type of monitoring contract chosen will also influence the overall cost.

The best way to receive an estimate for a critical infrastructure contract is to get in touch, whereby we’ll give you an honest, no-obligation and free quotation.
