EV Charge Point Monitoring

EV Charge Point Monitoring

The EV industry is growing rapidly, fuelled by the UK government banning the production and sale of gasoline vehicles from 2030. This means demand for EV charge points is increasing, with them on the cusp of being classed as critical infrastructure in the UK.

Many sites are now installing EV charge points for their workplace, fleets and public use, realising how integral they will be to our future. But managing entire charge point systems can be challenging, especially with the added aspects of monetisation, maintenance, optimising energy usage and identifying faults. Our future dependence on EV charge points highlights the importance of proper management solutions and monitoring to deliver efficient and reliable charge point systems.

RMS has partnered with iEquos, an EV charge point management software, to provide an all-in-one management solution for EV chargers across multiple sites, with full 24/7 monitoring carried out by our NSI Gold approved ARC and highly experienced monitoring operatives.

24/7 EV Charge Point Monitoring

There’s nothing more frustrating than out-of-use or faulty EV charge points. Not knowing that a site’s EV chargers are down not only affects efficiency and productivity but can also cost a business financially and affect its reputation.

24/7 monitoring of EV charge points ensures that no issue goes undetected, with the ARC being notified instantly if a charge point is offline or a fault has been identified. The site keyholder can then be contacted and we will look to fix the issue remotely, whenever possible.

At RMS, we can also provide an out-of-hours customer helpdesk service, which supports EV drivers with any issues they may be facing when charging their vehicles.

How Does EV Charge Point Monitoring Work?

Protecting your customer’s charge points with EV charge point monitoring is important for their health, success and efficiency, especially in terms of having EV charge points as a source of revenue or as a key part of the day-to-day running. Once we receive a notification that there’s a fault with an EV charge point, the following steps will take place:

  1. A signal is received by RMS.
  2. One of our monitoring operatives will look into the issue and identify the source of the fault.
  3. They will then attempt to fix the issue remotely, if possible, and contact the key holder to inform them of the issue.
  4. If the issue can’t be resolved remotely, the monitoring team will inform the maintenance company responsible for the charge point, so that an engineer can be dispatched.

How Much Does it Cost?

EV charge point monitoring is priced using a modular model. Add to our core service with additional packages that include monetisation, energy optimisation and billing.

Prices are determined based on the number of sites, number of charge points and the capabilities you need from the management platform. The best way to get an accurate idea of cost is to speak to the RMS team, who will be able to provide a bespoke quote for your sites. Call us on 0330 002 1149 or click here.
